Where does water go after we use it?

• After we use water from our sinks, showers, toilets, washing machines, and any other water systems in our homes our dirty water or waste water must be disposed of either down a drain or a pipe.
  
  So where does all this waste water go?
• One of the first places waste water goes is to our pipes.
• From our pipes our waste water goes to either a septic tank or to a sewage system.
• If you have sewage system in your neighborhood or city your water will then travel many miles to reach a water treatment plant.
• The treatment plant then takes this water and cleans it by adding special chemicals.
• It is important to know what you are flushing down the drain can end up in your water again. So be cautious of what you flush.
